DOUBLE BRONZE FOR MOLLY MAYNE AT EUROPEAN YOUTH OLYMPICS!
13 year old Hamilton Aquatics swimmer Molly Mayne came away with two Bronze medals, whilst representing Ireland at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku Azerbaijan.
The European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) takes place every two years and has all of the best swimmers in Europe aged 13-16 years old. For the females it was girls born in the years 2004/2005 (Molly is 2005 born).
In her first swim, Molly PB’d in the Semi Final of the 200m Breaststroke with a time of 2:30.0 to take the Bronze Medal in the final. In her second swim, Molly progressed through the rounds of the 100m Breaststroke to get a new PB of 1:09.5 and take her second Bronze Medal, just narrowly missing out on the Silver by just 0.04!
Molly has swam with Hamilton Aquatics since she was at primary school and has progressed through the academy rapidly to make it into the Elite Squad this season - she trains 8 times per week in the pool, plus land work. Molly attends King’s Al Barsha at school where she balances her academics extremely well.
Director Of Swimming, Ash Morris said: ‘Molly has done everybody, but most importantly herself, proud - she has worked so hard and stepped up on the first stage of the international ladder. In my opinion, Molly has all the attributes and characteristics to achieve some very special things at the highest level in the next few years’
